Peace deal in Israel and Gaza
Protests in Chicago and Portland
Shutdown discussion
Today’s Takeaway: Content featuring protests against ICE was overwhelmingly popular over the weekend. With No Kings protests planned for this Saturday, left-leaning creators and page managers should prepare to attend and capture content, or share posts with powerful (or humorous) messages about standing up to the Trump administration’s authoritarian crackdowns.

🟦 Left-leaning accounts
Posts featuring clips of demonstrations or plans for further protests against ICE and Trump’s authoritarianism were popular on left-leaning posts:
Don Lemon interviewed a Chicago ICE protestor who blows a whistle to warn about ICE vehicles while explaining why he views their actions as kidnapping. (6.3 million views, 33x average likes) and shared a clip of a Chicago lawyer at a protest clearly laying out First Amendment rights to federal agents. (1 million views)

Aaron Parnas reported that the Trump administration is growing nervous as No Kings Day is set to break records for a demonstration in America. (1.5 million views)
Resonate’s Take: Videos of citizen activism and solidarity continue to perform extraordinarily well ahead of the No King’s protests this Saturday, October 18th. Keep your eyes peeled (and cameras out) for uplifting moments to amplify.
MSNBC shared a clip of Chris Hayes questioning Trump’s health and mental acuity. (6.1 million views)
Aaron Parnas reported on Trump firing nearly every employee in the Department of Education office overseeing special education as part of layoffs during the shutdown. (5.7 million views, 6x average likes and views)
Resonate’s Take: Shutdown-related posts saw a slight uptick in performance for left-leaning pages over the weekend, but still under-performed. Unfortunately, shutdown-related posts from right-leaning pages over-performed, largely on the strength of Trump’s Friday announcement to pay U.S. troops through the shutdown.
